I want to create an AWS Storage Gateway to store files on Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) with Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) as the host platform.

Resolution

Complete the following steps:

  1. Open the Storage Gateway console.
  2. Choose the correct AWS Region, and then choose Create gateway.
  3. For Gateway name, enter a gateway name.
  4. For Gateway time zone, choose a time zone.
  5. Choose Amazon S3 File Gateway.
  6. Under Platform options, for Host Platform, choose Amazon EC2. Then, for Launch EC2 instance, choose either Use default settings or Customize your settings.
  7. Choose Launch instance, and then choose Next. A message appears that shows the launch progress.
  8. Open the Amazon EC2 console, and then choose Launch an Instance to configure the EC2 instance.
  9. Proceed with the steps to connect to the file gateway, activate the file gateway, and then configure local disks.
  10. Create the file share.
