You can increase the storage capacity for Scratch_2 file systems, but not Scratch_1 file systems.

Q: Can I convert my FSx for Lustre file system from scratch to persistent?

No. You can't convert a scratch file system to a persistent file system.

Q: Can I migrate data from my FSx for Lustre scratch file system to a persistent file system?

Yes. Use the Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) export and import processes to migrate the data from your scratch file system to a persistent file system. Make sure to use data repository association to link the scratch file system to an Amazon S3 durable data repository. For Lustre versions 2.10 and earlier, use importPath and exportPath to link the file system to the legacy data repository configuration.

Q: Can I restore my scratch file system from a backup?

No. Because scratch file systems are designed for temporary storage and short-term data processing, Amazon FSx doesn't support backups on scratch file systems. If you need Amazon FSx to automatically manage failures, then use a persistent file system.
