Why did I get charged for my AWS Marketplace subscription after I canceled it?

I canceled my AWS Marketplace subscription, but my AWS account still got charged.

Resolution

When you don't terminate your Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances, your account continues to incur charges for your AWS Marketplace subscriptions. A subscription cancellation doesn't terminate EC2 instances that are in the Running state.

Note: After you cancel your software subscription, you can't start new instances of the software.

To terminate running instances in a software subscription, complete the following steps:

  1. Open the AWS Marketplace console.
  2. Choose Manage subscriptions.
  3. On the Manage subscriptions page, choose Manage next to the software subscription that you want to cancel.
  4. Choose Actions, and then choose View instances.
  5. Confirm the AWS Regions where the instances are running.
  6. Terminate the instances

To delete other EC2 resources, see How do I delete or terminate my Amazon EC2 resources?
