I encounter issues when I try to create or use my Amazon Mechanical Turk account. I want to resolve these issues.
Resolution
Mechanical Turk rejected your account
If Mechanical Turk rejects your account, then you get a rejection email. An account rejection is final, and you can't appeal it.
Mechanical Turk suspended your account
If Mechanical Turk suspends your account, then you get an email that provides details about why your account was suspended. The email also provides instructions to appeal the suspension.
Note: You can't sign in to a suspended Mechanical Turk account. For account status questions, email the investigations team at mturk-account-appeals@amazon.com, not AWS Support. Send the email from the email address that's registered to your Mechanical Turk account.
Your account is in the Pending state for more than 72 hours
If your account is in the Pending state for more than 72 hours, then email the investigations team at mturk-account-appeals@amazon.com.
Your account has payment issues
When you sign up for a Mechanical Turk account, you must set up Amazon Pay and link it to your account. It can take up to 72 hours to verify your Amazon Pay account. If your Amazon Pay account is in the Suspended state or not verified within 72 hours, then email the investigations team at mturk-account-appeals@amazon.com.
Your account has two-step verification issues
If your phone number is in use on another account, then you must update the phone number for two-step verification.
Complete the following steps:
- Open Your Account, and then choose Login & security.
- Sign in to your Amazon account.
- Next to Mobile Phone Number, choose Edit, and then update the number that's on file.
Note: It can take up to 24 hours for the phone number to update. After you update your phone number, finish your Mechanical Turk account registration.
If you enter your one-time password (OTP) code and get routed to send a verification code again, then you're stuck in a verification loop.
To resolve this issue, complete the following steps:
- Open Your Account, and then choose Login & security.
- Sign in to your account.
- Turn off 2-step verification. If 2-step verification is already off, then proceed to the next step.
- Sign out of all Amazon-affiliated sites, such as Amazon.com and Mechanical Turk.
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies.
- Restart your browser.
- Sign in to Mechanical Turk.
- Complete the verification steps for your registration.
- Open Your Account, and then choose Login & security.
- Sign in to your account.
- Turn on 2-step verification.
Note: If you're still stuck in the verification loop, then email the investigations team at mturk-account-appeals@amazon.com.
