Why are there quotas for AWS service usage on my new account?

I want to know why there are quotas for all services on my new AWS account.

Resolution

Quotas on new accounts help you gradually ramp up activity. Quotas decrease the chance of large bills caused by a sudden, unexpected spike in the service usage.

You can view quotas for your account on the Service Quotas console. Before you increase your service quota, take the following actions:

  • Use at least 90% of the quota for services with smaller instance types or quota values.
  • Use AWS Free Tier benefits to increase the activity and usage on your account.
  • Determine whether your service usage requires the quota increase.

If you determine that you still require a higher service quota, then you can request a quota increase.
