How do I view full email headers exchanged between Amazon SES and the email clients?

Resolution

The full email header contains fields that provide technical and routing information that you can use to troubleshoot email delivery issues. The full email header can also verify the emails authenticity and identify potential spam or phishing attempts.

To view the full email headers through your email client settings, complete the following steps for your email provider:

Microsoft Outlook 2016, 2013, or 2010

1. To open the email in a full window, double-click the email.
2. Choose File, and then choose Properties.
3. View the message header in the Internet headers field in the Properties window.

Apple Mail

1. Open the email.
2. From the menu, choose View, and then choose Message.
3. Choose Raw Source.

Mozilla Thunderbird

1. To open the email in a new tab or window, choose the email from the reading pane.
2. From the menu, choose View, and then choose Message Source.

Gmail

1. Open the email.
2. Choose the More menu, and then choose Show original.

Outlook.com (formerly Hotmail)

1. From your Outlook.com email inbox, open (right-click) the context menu for the email.
   Note: To perform this action, don't open the email.
2. Choose View, and then choose View message source.

Yahoo Mail

1. From your Yahoo Mail email inbox, open (right-click) the context menu for the email.
   Note: To perform this action, don't open the email.
2. Choose View raw message.
