I received the "Maximum sending rate exceeded" or "Daily sending quota exceeded" error message from Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES).
Short description
If you exceeded the maximum number of emails that Amazon SES permits you to send per second, then you might receive the "Maximum sending rate exceeded" error. If you've exceeded the maximum number of emails that you can send in a 24-hour period, you might receive the "Daily sending quota exceeded" error. For more information, see Managing your Amazon SES sending limits.
Resolution
All new Amazon SES accounts are in the Amazon SES sandbox. To see if your Amazon SES account is in the sandbox, use the Amazon SES console.
Use the Amazon SES console to review your account's current sending quotas. If your sending quotas don't meet your requirements, then you can either move out of the sandbox or request a quota increase.
Move out of the Amazon SES sandbox
To move your Amazon SES account out of the sandbox, see Request production access (Moving out of the Amazon SES sandbox).
Request a quota increase
To increase your sending quota, see Increasing your Amazon SES sending quotas.
Note: You can't request an increase for the total size of your messages. If you use the SESv1 API, then the limit on your quota is 10 MB after Amazon SES encodes Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME). If you use SESv2 API or Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), then the limit on your quota is 40 MB after Amazon SES encodes MIME.
