I want to use Virtual Deliverability Manager to track the status of my Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES) emails.
Resolution
You can use the Amazon SES console to activate Virtual Deliverability Manager.
Note: You might incur additional charges when you activate Virtual Deliverability Manager. For pricing information, see the Virtual Deliverability Manager section of Amazon SES pricing.
To use the Virtual Deliverability Manager dashboard in Amazon SES to view your sent messages, complete the following steps:
- Open the Amazon SES console.
- In the navigation pane, choose Virtual Deliverability Manager.
- On the Virtual Deliverability Manager dropdown menu, choose Dashboard.
- Choose the Messages tab.
Note: It might take time for the messages that you send to appear in your search results.
You can use the message ID to search for a specific email. You can also select a date range, and use the Recipient, From, and Subject Line filters to refine your search.
Note: The values that you use to filter messages are case sensitive.
Virtual Deliverability Manager displays a table that contains messages that match your search criteria. The table's Delivery Event column shows each message's status. Select a relevant message, and then choose View details to view the message's event history.
The first event in a message's event history is its latest status. If a message's latest status is Delivery, then Amazon SES successfully delivered the message to the mailbox provider. If the email bounced, then the status is Permanent bounce, Transient bounce, or Undetermined bounce. Use an event's bounce subtype, diagnostic code, and the response that the mailbox provider returned to determine why an email bounced. For more information, see Bounce types.
Virtual Deliverability Manager doesn't track the following email types:
- Emails that you send to multiple recipients.
Note: It's a best practice to send emails to one recipient.
- Emails that you send with the Amazon SES mailbox simulator.
- Emails that you send with a delegate sender task's AWS account.
Note: Delegate sender tasks were formerly called cross-account sending.
