I want to set up and use a dedicated IP address in Amazon Simple Email Service (SES).

Resolution

Amazon SES supports standard dedicated and managed IP addresses. Determine what type of dedicated IP address to use, and then take one of the following actions.

Set up standard dedicated IP addresses

Request standard dedicated IP addresses. When AWS approves your request, create a dedicated IP address pool and associate your standard dedicated IP addresses with them. You can also associate your configuration set with your dedicated IP address pool.

Important: Be sure to warm up your standard dedicated IP addresses. It's a best practice to gradually increase the volume of emails that you send.

To send email with a dedicated IP address that you configure manually, use Bring Your Own IP (BYOIP).

Set up managed dedicated IP addresses

To activate managed dedicated IP addresses, create a managed IP address pool. Associate the managed pool with a configuration set, and then specify that configuration set when you send Amazon SES emails. You can set your configuration set as a default configuration set, and then apply it to a sender identity.

Amazon SES automatically allocates managed dedicated IP addresses to your AWS account based on your email-sending patterns and manages the warm-up process for each IP. Amazon SES also auto scales the number of dedicated IP addresses based on your email-sending volume.

Note: Amazon SES allocates your first managed dedicated IP address when your daily email-sending volume meets the threshold over several days. The managed dedicated IP address pool's sending status is Insufficient volume until Amazon SES allocates and uses your first managed IP.

Use the Amazon SES console to monitor your managed IP address pool's status and capacity.

Note: Usage statistics are available for only managed dedicated IP addresses.

Track your dedicated IP address performance

To track your dedicated IP address's performance, use Amazon SES to publish email sending events.
