I want to use the validation feature in AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS).
Resolution
Before you turn on the validation feature, review the limitations for AWS DMS task validation.
Turn on validation on a new task
Complete the following steps:
- Open the AWS DMS console.
- In the navigation pane, choose Database migration tasks.
- Choose Create database migration task.
- Enter the details for your Task configuration.
- Under the Task settings section, select Validation with data migration or Validation without data migration.
Note: Before you choose to validate without data migration, review the limitations for validation only tasks.
- (Optional) To view replication task statistics with Amazon CloudWatch Logs, choose Turn on CloudWatch logs.
- (Optional) Configure the Advanced task settings.
- Choose Create task.
Turn on validation on an existing task
Complete the following steps:
- Open the AWS DMS console.
- In the navigation pane, choose Database migration tasks.
- Select your task, and then check that the status of the task shows Failed or Stopped.
- Choose Actions, and then choose Modify.
- Under the Task settings section, select Validation with data migration or Validation without data migration.
Note: Before you choose to validate without data migration, review the limitations for validation only tasks.
- Choose Save.
View the results of the validation and revalidate tables
Complete the following steps:
- Open the AWS DMS console.
- In the navigation pane, choose Database migration tasks.
- Select your task.
- Under the Table statistics section, review the replication task statistics. If you turned on CloudWatch Logs during task creation, then choose CloudWatch metrics. On the dropdown list, select Validation.
- (Optional) You can revalidate a table during a task.
