I want to turn off the "AWS_VPN_SINGLE_TUNNEL_NOTIFICATION" messages that I receive when my AWS Site-to-Site VPN connection doesn't use both tunnels.
Resolution
To deactivate single tunnel notifications, open a case with AWS Support. Only AWS Support can deactivate the notifications. You can open a support case with all support plans and this includes the Basic Support plan.
Note: It's a best practice to configure both tunnels in your VPN connection for high availability, even if you turn off notifications. For more information, see Resilience in AWS Site-to-Site VPN.
- Open the AWS Support Center.
- Choose Create case.
- Choose the following options based on your support plan:
If you have a Basic support plan, choose Account and billing.
If you have a paid support plan, choose Technical.
For the Account and billing case form, choose the following options:
For Service, choose Account Activation.

For the Technical case form, choose the following options:
For Service, choose VPN.
For Item, choose General Guidance.

- For Description, enter the AWS region where you want to deactivate notifications.
- For Description, enter following text:
I want to deactivate the AWS_VPN_SINGLE_TUNNEL_NOTIFICATION for my Site-to-Site VPN connections. I understand that this will apply to all VPN connections within the specified AWS Region.
Note: If you turn off notifications for a Region with multiple VPN connections, then you won't receive notifications for all connections in that Region.
- Choose Submit.
The AWS Support team provides an initial response within 24 hours of a request. To minimize the approval time, provide all the required information with your request.
