When you register a domain name (ex: amazon.com), then the registrar is the entity that ensures that you own the domain and that the DNS provider you have configured is added to the global DNS registration system. The price per domain varies [1] based on the Top Level Domain (TLD, ex .com). So if you were charged $34, then according to the price list [2], did you register a .com.mx domain?

  • @shlomo I register for .lnk which said I need to pay only 5$ and this can not be deducted from my credit and I need to pay it with CC so I did and only 5 $ has been deducted then when I checked cost explorer I foud 5 + 34 $

  • I understand what you are saying, but I am unable to lookup your specific account or situation. I recommend opening a billing support case with your question so they can investigate your specific situation. In the console, click on the ? with a circule around it -> Support Center -> Create Case -> Account and Billing Support. The experts there should be able to see what you are seeing and explain the details behind your specific situation.

Hi Maha,

As Shlomo Dubrowin says, the cost depends on the type of domain.
The Cost Explorer shows the amount before the Credit discount is applied.
You can also check the status of credit applied by checking the billing console(Bills > AWS Service Charges > Route 53).
The following document states that the Credit does not apply to the acquisition of a domain.
AWS Document(Registering a new domain)

AWS credits
You can't use AWS credits to pay the fee for registering a new domain with Route 53.

I hope this helps you.
