AWS Free tier account -Not sure why create load balancer gives

-1

Hello, I am new to cloud .Last week I created a new AWS Free Tier account for learning purposes. As part of my exploration, I am trying to create a Load Balancer, but I receive the error:

"This AWS account currently does not support creating load balancers. For more information, please contact AWS Support."

I am using the root login, and I have not made any changes to IAM policies or quotas. Could you someone help please ?

I have checked my service quotas, allocated 50, used is 0 only. There is no bill payment pending either. So I tried using different region, issue still present. Created a case in support been 20 hrs , still in un assigned state. I am not sure how to proceed further

Thank you

This message means that your AWS account doesn’t have enough billing history with AWS to be auto-approved for the creation of Elastic Load Balancers (ELB).

Free Accounts and Billing Support should be able to help with this. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/awsaccountbilling/latest/aboutv2/billing-get-answers.html#billing-support

  • So, how could I get billing history? Just using other services for a month, pay the bill and then NLB is unblocked? Is there a way to pay some bill right now and unblock it?

This error message is not uncommon for new AWS accounts and could be due to several reasons:

  1. Account Activation: Your AWS account might not be fully activated yet. To fully activate your AWS account, ensure you've completed all required steps including adding a valid payment method, verifying your phone number, and choosing an AWS Support Plan. It can take up to 24 hours after activation for all services to become available.

  2. API Throttling: AWS might temporarily restrict your ability to create new resources to prevent service abuse, especially for new accounts.

  3. Temporary Service Issues: There could be transient problems with the Elastic Load Balancing service in your region.

Here are some steps you can try:

  • Wait and retry: Sometimes these issues resolve themselves after 15-30 minutes or up to 24 hours for new accounts.

  • Try a different region: Although you mentioned trying this already, it's worth attempting again as service availability can vary by region.

  • Check for any unused load balancers: Ensure you don't have any hidden resources in other regions.

  • Continue with your support case: Since you've already opened a case with AWS Support, they should be able to investigate your account-specific issue. Support response times can vary, but they should eventually help resolve this.

In the meantime, you might be able to continue learning with other AWS services that are working correctly in your account while waiting for this issue to be resolved.
