Why am I seeing failed as billed?

0

There were 3 attempts to transfer the domain to AWS, and 2 of the failed. Anyway I see in the billing, that cost was 39$, while I was charged only once for 13$

The "failed but billed" situation can occur for various reasons. In your specific case, it looks like the failure might have happened during the domain transfer process to AWS, and AWS has added it to the bill because it shows as a domain registration attempt.

Regarding domain transfer, AWS Route 53 charges a yearly registration fee when a domain is transferred to it. This fee can vary based on the type of domain (.com, .org, etc.). According to your description, you were charged $13, which sounds like a domain registration fee.

For the three attempts you made:

  1. If the first attempt was successful, AWS charged you $13 for the domain registration fee, hence the $13 charge.
  2. For the two failed attempts, it's possible that AWS didn't charge you because the transfer didn't go through, but it appears to have cost $26 (2*$13) in your billing, which could be due to some accounting error or misunderstanding.

I would suggest reaching out to AWS support to clarify this issue. They would be able to provide the exact reasoning behind the charge and the failed transfers. Select "Account and billing" when you open the support ticket so it gets routed to the right team.

  • 13$ is a domain transfer fee, and 2 failed attempts were because my card didn't want to be accepted (had to call to bank). Thanks for advice, will create a support ticket.
