Ec2 Instance & RDP was not accessible

Question

Last week, my application hosted on ec2 instance was down. Server was not accessible and the server health shows insufficient data. Although, I tried rebooting instance the server, everything remained the same. However the server issues got resolved only after I stopped and start the ec2. Surprisingly, it took more than 10 minutes to stop the instance. Can anyone explain me the cause of this issue ? Was that a server /hardware updated issues ? Any help will be highly appreciated

Seems like a pressure inside the OS.

Please verify your current free Memory inside windows.

Also, check for available disk space in C drive.

When you stop the instance, the system send a Shutdown signal to the OS, and the OS will wait until all processes stop. If that not happen in 10 minutes, the system will force a shutdown.

It is telling that things were resolved when you did a stop/start cycle. If there was underlying issues with the host, the stop/start cycle will move your instance to a different host. You may also want to investigate [Recover your instance](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/ec2-instance-recover.html).
