Transfer Workdocs files the easy way

While there isn't a specific API mentioned for transferring files directly from Amazon WorkDocs to Google, there are a couple of methods you can use to migrate your content from WorkDocs in preparation for moving to another platform like Google.

1. Data Migration Tool: This is a comprehensive solution for administrators or console users to migrate all data from a WorkDocs site. It exports all data, including file versions, comments, and permissions, to an Amazon S3 bucket in the same region and account. This method is ideal for large-scale migrations of entire WorkDocs sites.

a) Using the WorkDocs web client with the WorkDocs Companion App installed. This allows users to select and download their files and folders.

b) Using the WorkDocs Drive Client on Windows, which makes WorkDocs files appear like a hard drive. Users can then copy files to another location on their computer.

For the Drive Client method, you can use File Explorer to copy files from the WorkDocs drive (usually mapped as W:) to your local computer. Alternatively, you can use a command-line tool like robocopy in Windows PowerShell for a more automated approach.

While these methods don't directly transfer files to Google, they allow you to download your content from WorkDocs, which you can then upload to your preferred Google service. Keep in mind that these bulk download methods don't retain file ownership, permissions, or versions.

After extracting your content using one of these methods, you would need to use Google's tools or APIs to upload the data to their services.
