Setup incremental backups

0

Hi,

I've setup a backup plan for an EC2 instance in AWS Backup. In the documentation I read that the backups are incremental, but every backup says it's 15GB large. So I'm wondering if everything is going like it should be, because it looks like I'm getting all full backups? I can't recall that I had a specific setting to choose for an incremental option?

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Hello.

AWS Backup are being taken using incremental backups without any configuration.
https://docs.aws.amazon.com/aws-backup/latest/devguide/creating-a-backup.html

I think what you probably saw is the size of the EC2 snapshot screen.
I think the full size is displayed for the following reasons.
https://repost.aws/knowledge-center/ebs-incremental-snapshot-creation-slow

By design, EBS snapshots show the full size of the backup instead of the incremental size. The first snapshot is the full copy of your data. Subsequent snapshots are incremental and contain the changed blocks from the most recent snapshot. The subsequent snapshot shows the full size because a new volume can be restored from any EBS snapshot, even though its incremental by design. Each incremental snapshot references the other snapshots in the backend.

Thanks for your reply! I'm looking in this screen for the size: Enter image description here

The first ULR you send is one of the documents I already read. I suppose it will be allright then. The fact I see some contradictional things could have something to do with the second URL you post. Thanks again.
