Query on MS Exchange backup using AWS backup service

Hi All,

This query is related to MS Exchange server backup we need to configure. These MS Exchange Servers are hosted on EC2 instances with Win2K16 server OS, MS exchange logs need to be backed up to meet our RPO/RTO expectations. We thought of a solution, which involves using a third party backup tool to backup these Exchange mailbox server logs, these logs need to be truncated once backup is taken successfully. If not truncated, the volume grows to the max capacity of the drive and impacts MS Exchange servers.

We have a design principle to utilize AWS native services to the max and for EBS backup, we are using AWS native backup services. Since there's a requirement to truncate the logs, my understanding is that AWS native bacup service can't meet this requirement, as it does volume level snapshots. Objective is to avoid bringing a third party tool to perform MS Exchange backup alone.

My queries here are -

1 : Is my understanding wrong ? ( - that AWS native backup service can't meet this requirement?) 2 : If I'm wrong, any pointers which help us to meet this requirement using AWS backup service.
