unable to see the top menu bar and launcher in sagemaker studio

0

Hello. I am trying to search amazon sagemaker and then Studio, I see 'Select domain' field on top of 'Open Studio' button which is selected on 'QuickSetupDomain-20240624T200776' by default. So after I hit the 'open studio' button, I don't see the top menu bar such as option 'kernel' and ... . Also I don't see launcher and some options in the middle of the page. Also in the course 'generative AI with LLM' from coursera, I see a person is telling to do the following:

' the environment that we're going to be using here, which is called Vocareum. And so here we will actually launch your own AWS account that will give you access to Amazon SageMaker, and therefore you can run these notebooks without any cost to you. So some things to note when you get into the Vocareum lab environment, you want to click Start Lab, that's the very first thing. You'll see that up here in the upper left, you'll see the AWS goes from red to yellow to green. '

Now my question is, should do start lab or something similar before launching sagemaker? How can find such that environment? I would appreciate if anyone can help me with the problem, I am very amateur in AWS.

Hello ER,

So Vocareum is going to be the environment you're using for the lab setup process-- this is going to guide you on how to actually perform the lab as well as provide you with the AWS account access. So you can feel free to start the lab whenever you're ready. Now for the Amazon SageMaker setup there are a few prerequisites you need to go through before entering the Studio space. After you log into your AWS account from the details given from your lab setup, go to the SageMaker homepage. I'll walk you through step by step on how to complete the setup and enter the Studio environment.

Set Up Your Domain: You’ll see an option to create a SageMaker Domain. Since it sounds like your the only user, select the "Quick setup" option

IAM Role: During setup, you need to give SageMaker permission to work with other AWS services. AWS will ask you to either create a new IAM role or use one you already have. Just make sure it has the AmazonSageMakerFullAccess permission.

VPC Settings: Select the default VPC and subnets (for your course purpose, don't worry about creating a new VPC)

User Profile: Create a user profile and make sure to attach the IAM role (the AmazonSageMakerFullAccess permission)

Finish Setup: Review your settings and hit "Create domain." AWS will take care of setting everything up for you.

Now you can head back to the SageMaker main page:

Open Studio: Head back to the SageMaker section in AWS. You should see a dropdown to select your domain—pick the one you just created, then click "Open Studio." It will show the user profile associated with the domain as well.

Navigating the Studio: When Studio opens, you will see a bunch of features on the home page, you can ignore those for now and look on the top left corner to select your IDE. You can choose whichever IDE you want from the list available, if your using Jupyter Notebooks you can choose "JupyterLab" or "SageMaker Studio Classic", and launch the notebook.

Create a Notebook: Once you’re in the IDE, look for "File" in the top menu, then click on "New" > "Notebook."

Select Your Kernel: After creating a notebook, you’ll need to choose a kernel. This is what sounds like the page you were trying to find.

Hope this helps
