Does eb deploy change the instance's public IP or not?

Why this question?

If `eb deploy` does change the IP address of ec2 instance then it is okay to use `eb ssh` and then select the instance number or id, depending upon how many instances are there in a single environment.

If not, why not just directly `ssh -i  ec2-user@`

Am I missing something here?

depending on the[ Elastic Beanstalk deployment policy](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/elasticbeanstalk/latest/dg/using-features.rolling-version-deploy.html) you have selected for your environment, this can cause the replacement of the instances. and it will cause the IP address to change.

My recommendation is to not use public subnets for your instances to prevent risks and use the [SSM session manager to connect to the instances if needed.](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/systems-manager/latest/userguide/session-manager.html)
