Cannot access EC2 thru remote desktop. Internal Error.

I have an windows EC2 instance. Today, I was not able to remote into it anymore.

EC2 instance is running (status checks shows 2/2) and remote desktop brings up the login prompt. But after entering the password, I get "Unknown Error". I tried remoting from another computer and got the same behavior. Tried restarting EC2, Stop + start EC2 and could not get past "Unknown Error" thrown by remote desktop.

If i DONT associate an elastic IP address, then remote desktop works and does not throw "Unknown Error". Any one ran into this ? Appreciate if you are able to share your experience on how this was resolved.
