I ran into something similar a while back when trying to order Snow devices in ap-south-1. Even though the IAM permissions looked fine (createJob, DescribeJob, fullDeviceManagement), the issue ended up being related to the account’s marketplace association. Some accounts are tied to a specific AWS marketplace region, and Snow orders can only be placed if the marketplace matches the device’s region.
You might want to open a support case with AWS and ask them to verify your account’s marketplace configuration for ap-south-1. In my case, they had to adjust the marketplace settings on the backend, and it worked right away after that.
This error occurs specifically when trying to order a Snowball Edge device in the India (ap-south-1) region and is related to your AWS account type rather than IAM permissions.
The error message "You don't have the required permission to create this job in your currently assigned marketplace" appears because you're likely using an AWS account with Amazon Web Services, Inc. as the service provider. For ordering Snowball Edge devices in India, you need an AWS India Private Limited (AISPL) account.
To verify this:
- Open the Billing and Cost Management console
- Choose Payment Preferences
- Check your Service provider
If it shows "Amazon Web Services, Inc." instead of AISPL, this confirms the issue.
To resolve this problem:
- Create an AWS India Private Limited (AISPL) account
- Use this AISPL account to order your Snowball Edge device in India
This is a marketplace-specific requirement for India and not related to the IAM permissions you've already verified (createJob, DescribeJob, and device management permissions).

Resolve Snowball Edge marketplace permission error in India | AWS re:Post
This usually isn’t an IAM permissions issue if you’ve already confirmed CreateJob, DescribeJob, and DeviceManagement permissions are present. The error about “currently assigned marketplace” typically means your AWS account is linked to a marketplace region that doesn’t allow Snow orders in ap-south-1.
Best next step: open a support case with AWS and request them to verify (or update) your account’s marketplace association for Snow Family in ap-south-1. I’ve seen this fixed on the backend by AWS Support — no changes needed on the IAM side.

Do you have any ticket details to share with AWS team, as I have been trying to get that done but looks like the current team does not have a clue about it.
