How to reset offset of a consumer group created through MSK connect

I have created consumer using MSK connect but when I try to reset the offset to the beginning, it keep throwing this error Error: Assignments can only be reset if the group 'connect-opensearch-connector-v1' is inactive, but the current state is Stable. if I were to delete the connector, would I need to re-create it with the same name so that it subscribe to the same consumer group? and pull the records based on the offset which was set post deleting it?
