Workmail user and email address doesn't show up in the Workmail console but can't be recreated

0

A certain user doesn't show up in the Workmail AWS console but can't be created because an error message says the user already exists. This means the user's password can't be reset which means the mailbox can't be accessed as the password for the account is unknown. The user's email address isn't being used as a group address either.

Anybody seen this happen and been able to resolve it?

Just ran into this problem so I thought I'd post my solution to help anyone who comes across this question. In our case the email address was set as an alias for another email address. The problem is that when this is the case it doesn't show up in either the user list or the group list so finding out where it is being used can be a nightmare if you have alot of users.

Hi,

Is the specific user different from other users? Resetting the password in the directory should be possible as well but the user likely does not have a mailbox in WorkMail if its not shown in the WorkMail console.

Kind regards, Robin

  • Unfortunately I was incorrect, the user doesn't show up in the global address list in the workmail web app.
