Can we upgrade Microsoft Windows Server 2022 Full Locale to Microsoft Windows Server 2022 to Microsoft Windows Server 2022 Full Locale English with SQL Web 2022

Question

We have a DB running on normal ec2 instance but that is not sufficing our needs so we need to upgrade to web edition.

Can we perform OS upgrade to web edition as this ec2 has an application as well along with DB so migrating to newly launched instance is very time consuming. Any help is appreciated.

As I understand it your current instance is a pay-as-you-go (license-included) with Windows only but without SQL Web but you require Windows and SQL Web - both with license-included.

Launching a new instance that has licensing requirements i.e. Windows + SQL Server Web Edition and then migrating your application and data from your old instance is the cleanest and most optimal way to do this.

There is a license conversion process using License Manager but the combination you need is not supported at this time. More information here:
