Cloning of AWS Lightsail and migrating it back to original Lighstail

0

Hi,

We are not experts of Lightsail and Wordpress.

We want to clone our Lightsail/Wordpress site to a staging environment (so that we won't touch the live site). After we make our updates on the clone site, we want to push back the changes to the origina/live site.

What's the best way to do it?

Thank you all.

Hello,

I understand that you wish to clone your Lightsail/Wordpress website to verify the changes and once done planning to publish it on production website.

Create staging environment :-

  1. Create snapshot of your Amazon Lightsail instance so you will have backup as well. Follow steps mentioned in below document.

    [+] https://lightsail.aws.amazon.com/ls/docs/en_us/articles/lightsail-how-to-create-a-snapshot-of-your-instance

  2. Launch new test/staging instance using newly created snapshot, step to launch instance using snapshot given in below public document. Make sure to perform changes at application level as per new lightsail instance public IP .

    [+] https://lightsail.aws.amazon.com/ls/docs/en_us/articles/lightsail-how-to-create-instance-from-snapshot

  3. Once testing is successfully done on staging environment you can make same changes on production server in non-production hours.

NOTE - Please note the changes need to be done manually on production website. As there is no direct way in lightsail to copy/push changes from staging environment to your production website.

Feel free to raise case with AWS support if you have further query regarding this.
