How to increase Speed of a Deepracer Car?

0

Hi, I have a stable model running in reInvent:2018 track it is clocking 8.1 to 8.3 secs without going off track even once (I ran the model 10 times in race). I want to get into 7 secs without going Off track. Any suggestion how can I improve the speed further? Please note I have 25 discrete action spaces defined, hyperparameters are default except for epoch which is changed to 4.

Hello,

Please note that the span of the action space is defined by the maximum speed and steering angle. We can specify the maximum speed and maximum steering angle during training in simulation. When deploying the trained model to your AWS DeepRacer vehicle for driving on a real-world track, the maximum speed and steering angle of the vehicle must be calibrated to match those used in the simulation training.

Please refer to https://docs.aws.amazon.com/deepracer/latest/developerguide/deepracer-calibrate-vehicle.html for more details on the same.

For any further queries or concerns, please raise a ticket with AWS Premium Support. I will be more than happy to assist you further.

Hello IronMan, One thing to consider, as Divya has suggested, is if your action space allows your car to go faster. Another is whether your reward function incentivises the car to go fast and the final is whether your hyperparameters are doing the same.
