Cannot register Yubikey for MFA

0

I am trying to add a new Yubikey to my IAM user as MFA device The browser does not prompt to touch the key.

I can sign in with the key to other AWS accounts, so the key and USB port are working.

I've tried

  • updating my system with sudo apt upgrade + reboot
  • tried browsers Brave + Firefox

Tried with a different yubikey Tried on a different PC with latest macOS + Brave browser

The prompt to touch the key never appears

What could be wrong?

Hello.

I have used yubikey to set up IAM users in the past and was able to add them successfully.
At that time, I used Windows 10 to configure the settings.
If possible, try the settings on a Windows OS PC as well.

  • I don't have a windows system available for this. I also successfully registered yubikeys in the past with the setup I am using right now

I think this is a problem with AWS console. On the same PC, demo.yubico.com works as expected with the same yubikey

I would recommend that you open a support case on this. As you mention, browsers make changes from time to time that affect access to devices. It is important to gather information when customers have troubles with devices and the best way to accomplish this is via a support case.
