Does all Actions in RDS -> Databases -> Actions 'immediate' or prompt for confirmation

0

Hi,

I just want to be safe before I click on something that will have un-intended consequences. I've given up searching thru the doc. It appears to be more helpful trying it out instead of reading about it but I don't have a test box to try with.

Just really want to know Does all Actions in RDS -> Databases -> Actions 'immediate' or does it prompt for confirmation first and then it goes does it stuff? I am specifically after the 'Upgrade now' option for a RDS database.

I know some of them does prompt for something. Just a bit paranoid whether 'Upgrade now' is AWS way of saying you know what you are doing and you want to do it now with no delay :-) Please advise. Thanks.

Hi,

Are you talking about any particular database engine?

I have checked it at my end for an RDS MySQL instance and I do see that for 'Upgrade now' option, it asks for final confirmation in a pop-up before actually doing anything. See the below screenshots:-

Also I have checked for other options available in Actions drop-down and I can see all the options does ask for confirmation or request more details before actually executing that action.

Hi, Thanks for giving it a try. I don't have a sandbox to try it on. Have to cancel my AWS Free account :-) At the moment, am looking at an Oracle RDS but I presume this option will start appearing on others and not just for RDS databases. A bit paranoid when it says Now, it means Now no questions asked :-)
