Quicksight: Conditional Formatting only allows "COUNT" as aggregate

0

Hello! I'm trying to create conditional formatting in a quicksight visual by creating a calculated column that sets the threshold for another column.

Below I have an example of the data (left) and the threshold column I've created (right).

Example of Data

I want the data in the left column to be conditionally formatted to have the background color stated in the right column.

For example, the 75 at the top would have a green background color, -107 would be red, etc.

When I go to Conditional Formatting >> Add background color, it only allows me to aggregate based on "COUNT" or "COUNT DISTINCT". I don't want to aggregate anything here - I just want it to set the background to green if the column says "GREEN", or red if the column says "RED".

You can see below that the "No aggregation" option isn't there, and I don't understand why.

How do I get it to allow me to format the left column using the unaggregated right column?

Thank you for your help!

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

In order to replicate the use-case, I created a dataset(in excel) as below :- values colour 75 GREEN 67 GREEN -79 GREEN -107 RED 53 RED -79 GREEN

Then i created an analysis (type : pivot table) from the above dataset. Go to Conditional formatting ->

  1. Column -> values
  2. Format field based on -> colours
  3. Aggregation -> No Aggregation
  4. Condition#1 -> Equals Value - > GREEN (in the right check box 'color', I choose green colour)
    • Add Condition Condition#2 -> Equals Value - > RED (in the right check box 'color', I choose red colour)

Attaching screenshots for your reference.

  • Hi, thanks for your response, but it didn't answer my question.

    How do I get the "No Aggregation" option to appear? This is the question I'm asking.

    You say to select "No Aggregation." This is what I want to do. The problem I'm running into is that it doesn't give me the option to select "No Aggregation." It only allows me to select "COUNT" or "COUNT DISTINCT" as I've shown in the image in the original post.

    How do I get the "No Aggregation" option to appear?

    Thank you for your help.
