RDS SQL Server database compression

Question

Hi Team,

We are doing the assessments and found the database compression in the report- does the RDS SQL server supports database compression?

If yes, which version will support in RDS( on-premises its supports in Enterprise and standard edition  )

**Amazon RDS for SQL Server** does support [data compression](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/data-compression/data-compression?view=sql-server-ver16), and [backup data compression](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest/UserGuide/SQLServer.Procedural.Importing.html#SQLServer.Procedural.Importing.Native.Compression).

The versions are similar to on premises, both [Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/data-compression/data-compression?view=sql-server-ver16#:~:text=Compression%20is%20not%20available%20in%20every%20edition%20of%20SQL%20Server) have that feature. Specifically, starting in **SQL Server 2016 SP1**, this became available in all versions. As long as you are using that version or above, you will be able to compress data in any version of SQL Server.
