Assistance Required for Migrating Elastic IP from EC2 Instance to Lightsail Instance

0

I am writing to seek your assistance regarding the migration of an Elastic IP address. Currently, my Elastic IP address is attached to an AWS EC2 instance, and I am looking to migrate it to a Lightsail instance. However, I am unable to find any direct tool or documentation that guides this specific migration process.

Could anyone please provide me with a detailed procedure to help me detach the Elastic IP address from my EC2 instance and subsequently attach the same Elastic IP address to my Lightsail instance?

You could open a support case for assistance but from everything I see, there is no option for using an Elastic IP (from EC2) on a LightSail instance. LightSail does have a similar option to create static IPs that can be moved between LightSail instances but I don't know of or see any options for using or transfering EC2 Elastic IPs and LightSail static IPs between the services.

Hi,

The full process is described here in details: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/lightsail/latest/userguide/lightsail-create-static-ip.html

The only difference is that you have to skip first part detailling how to create a new Elastic IP address as you already have one.

This post shows you how to detach an existing Elastic IP address from an EC2 instance if you need it: https://medium.com/@swethamuraleetharan0609/attaching-and-removing-an-elastic-ip-address-to-an-ec2-instance-6c11b1729c69 Best,
