Change the due date of r6i.2xlarge

0

We are currently using the r6i.2xlarge instance type and have changed our payment plan to a 3-year term. We would like to set the start date to November 17, 2024, as our previous contract ends on November 16, 2024. Please review the attached file and let us know if this adjustment is possible.

Additionally, we currently have some AWS services we are not using, such as c8vxlarge. We understand that a refund is impossible in monetary form, but we would like to know if it is possible to receive the refund in credits instead.Enter image description here

Regarding your request to change the due date for the r6i.2xlarge instance type, it is possible to modify Reserved Instances in Amazon EC2. However, it's important to note that you cannot directly change the start date of an existing reservation to a future date. Instead, you would need to purchase a new 3-year Reserved Instance starting from November 17, 2024.

For your current reservation, you have a few options:

  1. You can continue using it until it expires on November 16, 2024.
  2. You can modify certain attributes of the reservation, such as the Availability Zone or instance size (within the same instance family), but this won't change the expiration date.
  3. If you have a Convertible Reserved Instance, you may have more flexibility to change instance types or other attributes.

As for the AWS services you're not using, like c8vxlarge, AWS typically does not provide refunds for unused services or instance types. The policy is generally that Reserved Instances are non-refundable. However, AWS does sometimes make exceptions or offer alternatives on a case-by-case basis.

While it's not standard practice to convert unused services into credits, I recommend reaching out to AWS Support or your account manager to discuss your specific situation. They may be able to provide guidance on optimizing your AWS usage or suggest alternatives that could help you maximize the value of your existing investments.
