Can't find account ID/ account alias

1

I can't log in to my old account because I don't know where I can find the corresponding account ID or alias. I do know the email address, password and username, but I don't have a single clue where to find the account ID or alias. Help would be very much appreciated. I can't find the info in my email inbox and I didn't enable MFA when creating this account.

  • Can you try finding your invoices in your Email so that you can find the account number in the invoice, try it

Login to the account with the email address and password and your account ID appears in the TOP right of the screen

To find the alias, follow these instructions https://docs.aws.amazon.com/IAM/latest/UserGuide/console_account-alias.html#CreateAccountAlias

1. Use the Email Address Instead of the Account ID

When logging in, you can use your email address associated with the AWS account instead of the account ID. This works in the "Root user" sign-in option.

2. AWS Support for Account Recovery

Since you have access to the email address and password, but not the account ID or alias, you can contact AWS Support for assistance.

Visit the AWS Support Center and select the option to "Contact Us."

Choose "Account and Billing Support" and then select "Forgot your account ID or password" as the issue type.

Provide the necessary details, including your email address, username, and any other relevant information.

3. Check Your Browser History or Saved Passwords

If you have logged in to this AWS account before on the same device, you might be able to find the account ID or alias in your browser’s saved passwords or browsing history. Check your browser's "Saved Passwords" or "Autofill" settings to see if it stored the account ID or alias.

4. Look for Invoices or Billing Information

If you've ever received invoices from AWS, the account ID might be listed on those documents. Search your email inbox for any billing-related emails from AWS.

5. Check Old AWS Emails

AWS sends confirmation emails when an account is created. These emails might contain the account ID or alias. Try searching your email for terms like "AWS account creation" or "AWS account ID."

I also had an old account which I did not have account ID for. AWS did not require an account ID in the past to sign in. Here is how I got it:

On the sign-in page, click on Legacy Sign-In in the right top left corner. Confirm. Click on root sign-in and on this legacy sign in page, you will be able to login just using your email/password. Then copy your account ID and keep it safe.
