Unable to Sign In to My AWS Builder ID (Incorrect Redirect to Sign-Up Page)

0

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue when trying to sign in to my AWS Builder ID account.

I originally registered my AWS Builder ID using my Gmail address and have already obtained the AWS certification under this account.

However, when I try to sign in again, I encounter a problem:

I go to the AWS Builder ID sign-in page (the URL contains “sign-in”).

I enter my email address and click Continue.

The page then redirects to a sign-up URL and asks me to enter my name instead of my password.

When I enter my name and click continue, I get the following error message:

“Sorry, this email is already in use. You can try signing in with this email address or enter a different email address to continue registering.”

This issue prevents me from logging in. Even if I return to the sign-in page and try again, I am redirected to the same sign-up page and cannot proceed.

It appears that the system is mistakenly redirecting my existing account’s sign-in request to the sign-up flow, instead of showing the normal password or Google login prompt. I believe this might be caused by a redirect or authentication bug on the AWS Builder ID login page.

How to resolve this issue and restore access to my AWS Builder ID account?

It appears you're experiencing a common issue with AWS Builder ID where the system is incorrectly redirecting you to the sign-up flow instead of the sign-in process.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

  1. Clear your browser cache and cookies: This often resolves redirect issues by removing any stored data that might be causing the problem.

  2. Try using a private/incognito browsing window: This can help determine if the issue is related to your browser's stored data.

  3. Try a different web browser or device: Sometimes the issue might be specific to a particular browser or device configuration.

  4. Check your device's date and time settings: Ensure your device is correctly synchronized to a reliable time source, as time synchronization issues can sometimes cause authentication problems.

  5. If you originally signed up with Google authentication, make sure you're selecting the correct sign-in method. If you have an existing Builder ID using the same email address as your Google account, you should sign in using your AWS Builder ID password rather than Google authentication.

  6. If you continue to experience this issue after trying these steps, you may need to contact AWS Support directly through the Support Feedback form with details about your issue.

This redirect loop is a known issue that can occur with AWS Builder ID authentication, particularly when there's confusion between existing accounts and new sign-ups using the same email address.

Hi

Did you signup with gmail account directly, or did you use your Google account?

Please take a look here. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/signin/latest/userguide/troubleshooting-builder-id-issues.html#sign-in-google-builder_id

If you have an existing Builder ID profile with the same email address as your Google account, use your AWS Builder ID password to sign in to your account. If you don't remember your password, see I forgot my password.

  • Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I’m not completely sure, but I believe I didn’t sign up using my Google account directly. I also tried signing in with my Google account, but it showed the following error message:

Sign in error The email you are using has a Builder ID account associated with it. To continue, return to sign in and enter the password for the account or try a different email.

Additionally, here is the video showing the login issue I encountered. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NqqZWoq-63bg1FdciaVc6hdCi3bKIi98/view?usp=sharing
