Large SageMaker bill even though not running any instances?

0

Hi, I checked my billing panel this morning to see a large bill for SageMaker, even though we have not been using it this month it is still considerably higher than last month. I've checked the SageMaker domain related to the region the bill is for, the domain status is InService and has one user profile. I've launched this user profile and can see it is not running any instances or even have any terminals open to it. So I am unsure as to why I am getting such a large bill.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Did you try to analyze those costs with AWS Cost Explorer ? https://aws.amazon.com/aws-cost-management/aws-cost-explorer/

It should give you hints about the usage of the features that lead to this bill.

This recent series of blog posts may also help you determine the cost source(s):

Part 1: Overview
Part 2: SageMaker notebooks and SageMaker Studio
Part 3: Processing and Data Wrangler jobs
Part 4: Training jobs
Part 5: Hosting

First post is at https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/machine-learning/part-1-analyze-amazon-sagemaker-spend-and-determine-cost-optimization-opportunities-based-on-usage-part-1/ with hyperlinks to others toward the end.

Best,

Didier

  • Thank you very much for your help! Cost explorer helped me realize that I (rather stupidly) had an endpoint running I wasn't aware of.
