AWS Cloud Quest: Recertify Cloud Practitioner is not extending current CCP certification as expected

0

According to AWS Recertification for CCP (https://aws.amazon.com/certification/recertification/):

`AWS Cloud Quest: Recertify Cloud Practitioner is a new way for certified individuals holding the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner to maintain active certification status. Certified individuals are eligible to complete AWS Cloud Quest: Recertify Cloud Practitioner when their AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification is due to expire within 6 months.

Completing this recertification option will extend the certification validity for 3 years. This free beta offering will be available through May 31, 2024`

I completed this training and have the badge as of Dec 22, 2023, but my original CCP certification has now expired (since then Jan 6th, 2024). I was lead to believe that completing the cloud quest would extend my CCP certification for another 3 years? Is that not the case?
