Unable to see Split Cost data in AWS CUR file

0

Hello, I recently enabled the split cost allocation data feature in my AWS CUR export to utilize the SCAD dashboard on QuickSight. However, I'm having trouble locating the split cost columns in the AWS CUR. I've followed the guidance from this article: Improve Cost Visibility of Amazon EKS with AWS Split Cost Allocation Data.

Any help will greatly appreciated !!

I understand you're having trouble locating the split cost columns in your AWS Cost and Usage Report (CUR) after enabling the split cost allocation data feature. There are a few things to consider:

  1. Timing: After opting in to split cost allocation data, it can take up to 24 hours for the data to be visible in your AWS CUR. If you've just enabled this feature, you may need to wait a bit longer for the data to appear.

  2. Report Type: Split cost allocation data is not available in Cost Explorer. It is only available in legacy Cost and Usage Reports (CUR) and Cost and Usage Report 2.0 (CUR 2.0) with Data Exports. Make sure you're looking at the correct report type.

  3. New Columns: When the split cost allocation data is included, you should see new columns in your CUR reports. For example, "SplitLineItem/SplitUsage" shows the usage for CPU or memory allocated for the specified time period to the Kubernetes pod.

  4. Inclusion in Report: Ensure that you've included the split cost allocation data in your new or existing report after opting in.

  5. Viewing Method: You can view the report using the Billing and Cost Management console or by looking at the report files in Amazon Simple Storage Service.

If you've waited more than 24 hours, confirmed you're looking at the correct report type, and still don't see the split cost columns, you may want to double-check your configuration or contact AWS support for further assistance.

Remember, to use this feature effectively, you need to have Amazon EKS set up correctly, and in some cases, you may need Amazon Managed Service for Prometheus for accurate cost allocation based on actual resource usage.
