Amazon forgets my IAM user's password

0

Has anyone else seen the issue where Amazon 'forgets' the password for an IAM user? I set up an IAM user, got them logged on and set up for the administrative tasks I want them to do.

But, EVERY TIME they log off, when they try to log back on, Amazon says "Your authentication information is incorrect. Please try again."

I've twice run through the reset password flow from my Root account, but it seems rather ridiculous that Amazon can't remember the password. (Yes, all account info is correct, and I am not mis-typing the new password.)

  • Ok, I had missed that the IAM user MUST log in through the link that was sent to them when the user was created.

This seems... uh, non-optimal. Especially as the main login screen offers a choice of Root or IAM user access.

Make sure, IAM user has used the first time login URL at least once when the user is/was created, otherwise it'll keep behaving the same way.

Hope it helps.
