Lightsail/WordPress Site and Subdomain Suddenly Down – Unable to Access

0

Hello,

My Lightsail WordPress site and subdomains have suddenly disappeared, and I’m unable to access anything.

**Main site: **www.alternativeai.io **Subdomain: **app.solar.alternativeai.io **Newsletter site: **newsletter.alternativeai.io I can’t log into WordPress admin, and I’m also unable to access my cPanel (Virtualmin). Everything was working fine before, and I’m not sure what happened. I ran sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh status and it says : No such file or ubuntu server. Im worried is it hacked .

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Based on the information provided, it appears your WordPress site hosted on AWS Lightsail is experiencing connectivity issues. This could be due to several potential causes:

  1. Database connection problems: Your WordPress site may be unable to establish a connection with its database. This can happen if the MySQL/MariaDB service has stopped running or crashed.

  2. Resource constraints: Your Lightsail instance might be running low on resources, particularly memory, which can cause various services to fail.

  3. Web server issues: The Apache or Nginx web server may have stopped running or encountered an error.

  4. Configuration changes: Recent updates or changes to plugins, themes, or core WordPress files could have caused conflicts.

To troubleshoot this issue, you can try the following steps:

  1. SSH into your Lightsail instance and check the status of your web server and database services. You can use commands like: sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh status

  2. If services are stopped, try restarting them: sudo /opt/bitnami/ctlscript.sh restart

  3. Check your server's resource usage, particularly CPU and memory. If you're consistently running low on resources, consider upgrading to a larger Lightsail plan.

  4. Review your Apache/Nginx and MySQL error logs for any suspicious activity or error messages that might provide more insight into the issue.

  5. If possible, try to access your WordPress files via FTP or SFTP to check for any recent changes or corrupted files.

  6. If you have a recent backup or snapshot of your Lightsail instance, consider restoring from it to see if that resolves the issue.

If these steps don't resolve the problem, you may need to perform more in-depth troubleshooting or consider contacting AWS support for further assistance. It's also a good idea to implement regular backups and monitoring to help prevent and quickly resolve such issues in the future.

Hi,

There doesn't appear to be any DNS setup for your domain. For example a DNS search like running command dig A <replace-with-your-domain-name> or dig NS <replace-with-your-domain-name> isn't returning any results.

Have you setup DNS for your domain? And then added A records to it that map the www or other sub-domains to your Lightsail instance's Static IP address?

Thanks.
