AWS SES Out of Sandbox Request -> "Unknown Error"

0

Hi all,

Following the advice of the answer given to my previous question - https://repost.aws/questions/QUFIjlxwTETaaB-I_5kvmkxA/unable-to-submit-aws-ses-out-of-sandbox-request-due-to-edge-case - and using the direct link to the production access request form: https://eu-west-2.console.aws.amazon.com/ses/home?region=eu-west-2#/account/request-production-access, I attempted to fill out and submit my SES out of sandbox request again. Upon clicking "submit request", the form errors out, as in screenshot below:

AWS SES Out of sandbox request

Interestingly, the "Use Case" Field appears to not be present at all in the field, potentially suggesting that this form is either out of date or in an errored-out state.

If you have any ideas as to why this is happening, or any information on how to submit an AWS SES out of sandbox request - please give me a shout! Information regarding specific circumstances of request can be found in my previous post - so the traditional method of "click the Get Out of Sandbox" (or words to that effect - I am unable to check due to the bug we're experiencing) is not applicable here.

Fields obviously are merely representation of actual fields put in - email address(es) and URL both valid and verified.

I apologize for the difficulty you're experiencing with submitting your Amazon SES production access request. The "Unknown error" message you're encountering is indeed frustrating and not very informative.

Based on the information provided, it seems there might be a few potential issues at play:

  1. There could be a temporary glitch or outage affecting the SES console in your region (eu-west-2). These types of issues usually resolve themselves within a short period.

  2. The missing "Use Case" field is concerning and suggests there might be a problem with how the form is loading or rendering in your browser.

  3. There's a possibility of an account-specific issue preventing the submission of the request.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve this:

  1. Clear your browser cache and cookies, then try accessing the form again.

  2. Attempt to submit the request using a different browser or device.

  3. Try accessing the production access request form in a different AWS region to see if the issue persists.

  4. If possible, try submitting the request using the AWS CLI instead of the console. This method can be helpful when dealing with console issues.

  5. Wait for a few hours or up to a day and try again, in case it's a temporary service issue.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, I would recommend contacting AWS Support directly. While they can't approve or deny your request, they should be able to help troubleshoot why you're unable to submit the form properly.

Remember, once you're able to submit the request, the AWS Trust & Safety team will review it carefully. They typically provide an initial response within 24 hours, though the full review may take longer if they need additional information. Make sure to provide a clear and detailed description of your use case to improve your chances of approval.

If your request is denied, you can appeal the decision by responding to the support case with additional information about your use case, ensuring it aligns with AWS policies and terms.
