Cannot Load User Settings. Have retried 100 times

I checked my S3 info and it shows its 4.9GB...is there a way to increase the time to Load the application settings before it times out and shows the error message. I've tried creating new URL's , and relaunching several time for two days straight...its happened often but usually after a few tries the profile gets loaded and I can go about my work.

I resolved this by expanding the VHDX file to max size 7000 and it loaded properly

The issue you're experiencing with loading user settings and the repeated timeouts is not directly related to the size of your S3 bucket. However, there are a few things you can consider to potentially improve the situation:

  1. S3 Transfer Acceleration: If your application is fetching settings from an S3 bucket that's geographically distant, you might benefit from enabling S3 Transfer Acceleration. This feature can help speed up long-distance transfers by routing traffic through Amazon CloudFront's globally distributed edge locations.

  2. Review application timeouts: The application that's trying to load the settings might have a timeout setting that's too short. You may need to work with the application developers to increase this timeout if possible.

  3. Check network connectivity: Ensure that there are no network issues between your application and the S3 bucket. Slow or unreliable network connections can cause timeouts.

  4. S3 performance optimization: While your S3 bucket size (4.9GB) isn't particularly large, you might want to review how your objects are organized. Using appropriate prefixes can help optimize performance for high request rates.

  5. Monitor S3 metrics: Enable Amazon CloudWatch metrics for your S3 bucket to monitor for any performance issues or throttling events that might be occurring.

  6. Implement exponential backoff: If you're developing the application, implement an exponential backoff strategy for retries. This can help manage the load on S3 and potentially avoid throttling.

If the problem persists after trying these suggestions, you may need to engage AWS Support for a more in-depth investigation of your specific use case and configuration.

One of the best ways to reduce load times of AppStream 2.0 user settings is to setup Amazon S3 Gateway Endpoints.
