Have some doubts about windows activation in Amazon workspaces created using BYOL Image

0

Hello, everyone. I have created Amazon WorkSpaces using a BYOL (Bring Your Own License) image. I utilized the Directory Service AD Connector to establish a connection between on-premises and AWS. Currently, I have some questions regarding Windows activation within Amazon WorkSpaces. When I connect to Amazon WorkSpaces and navigate to Windows activation, it prompts me for an admin password. What should I enter here? Is it my domain admin password, the password used when creating the VM on-premises to take an image, or the AD Connector Service Account Password

Hello Naziya,

You do not have to activate Windows manually. You must activate Windows using KMS server. Please refer to the following documentation for more details.

  1. Bring Your Own Windows desktop licenses - Requirements - https://docs.aws.amazon.com/workspaces/latest/adminguide/byol-windows-images.html#windows_images_prerequisites
  2. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/volume-activation/activate-windows-10-clients-vamt
  3. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/volume-activation/activate-using-active-directory-based-activation-client
