Mechanical Turk Cost Estimation

0

Hey All,

We're currently scoping out a project that is going to involve us using Mechanical Turk for a few months.

The project will consist of us asking MTurk to check a collection of websites twice a day, and if there are new files in a certain part of the website, to download them and upload them to a portal that we give them. a safe assumption for the number of websites will be around 20.

MTurk pricing is completely decided by us, but we are trying to get a sense of a range that tasks of equal effort have been quoted for, so that we can factor it into our financials and pricing.

any help or experience here would be greatly appreciated!

  • Hello,

You are correct in mentioning that MTurk pricing is completely decided by you. To ballpark the cost, survey tasks typically offer from 1USD to multiple USD reward depending on length and other requirements for the HIT. Measure how long it takes to complete the task on average and base the reward on that.

I would recommend creating a few HITs in MTurk with different reward values to test the water. Ultimately it will be up to the MTurk workers to decide whether or not the task is attractive to them.

The following article may be of interest to you regarding calculating how much you should offer:
