0

Hi, I deleted my AWS skill builder account to as i no longer want the service but i've been billed the last two months for it. I cant log into the account (because its been deleted) but i can log into the cost management suite and see the bills.

Anyway to fix this?

Thanks, Cam

I understand your frustration with being billed for AWS Skill Builder after deleting your account. This situation can occur for a few reasons:

When you delete an AWS Skill Builder account, you need to specifically cancel the subscription first before deleting the account. Simply deleting the account doesn't automatically cancel active subscriptions.

For AWS Skill Builder specifically, you need to:

  1. Log into your Skill Builder learner account
  2. Navigate to your Subscriptions Management page
  3. Select "Cancel Subscription"

Since you can no longer access the account but can still access the billing console, I recommend:

  1. Contact AWS Support immediately through the AWS Support Center. Create a case under "Account and billing" to address these unexpected charges.
  2. Explain your situation thoroughly, mentioning that you deleted your account but the subscription wasn't properly canceled.
  3. Provide details about when you stopped using the service and the steps you've already taken.

For future reference, when canceling AWS Skill Builder:

  • If you cancel within 72 hours of purchase, you won't be charged
  • If you cancel after 72 hours, your AWS account will be charged the prorated amount for the current month
  • After cancellation, your subscription will not automatically renew on the next billing cycle
  • You'll continue to have access to content until your active subscription period expires

AWS Support should be able to help resolve this issue and potentially refund the charges if appropriate.
