GRE Tunnels Across Regions, Transit Gateway and Fortigate

0

I currently have two Fortigates Firewalls (Regions:West and East). Each of these Fortigates have BGP enabled GRE Tunnels to peered Transit gateways that work. Furthermore, I would like to bring down one Fortigate firewall and failover to the other (it does not matter which region fails over); moreover, my problem is that I would like for example: Fortigate west to not only connect to the GRE tunnel in West but also the GRE tunnel in EAST.

****Does transit gateway allow me to route or connect to another transit gateway GRE tunnel connector in another region. Currently for GRE we have to use subnets within 169.2540.0.0/16 based on AWS rules.

This is not supported at the moment. GRE/connect is only supported between appliances and Transit Gateways in the same region i.e the appliance has to be in a transport VPC attachment to the same Transit Gateway
