CloudWatch Database Insights doesn't explicitly specify the data collection frequency for PostgreSQL databases in the provided sources.
However, regarding customization, Database Insights recently added support for customizing its metrics dashboard. You can now add or remove any database metric to the default dashboard according to your preferences. To customize the dashboard:
- Navigate to the Database Instance Dashboard
- Go to Database Telemetry
- Click on the Metrics tab
- Use the "Create widget" button to choose from database, operating system, and CloudWatch metrics to add
- Edit or remove existing metric widgets as needed
This customization feature is available for all Aurora and RDS database engines that Database Insights supports, including PostgreSQL, and is available in all regions where Database Insights is offered at no additional cost.
It's worth noting that Database Insights has two modes - Standard and Advanced. The Advanced mode offers enhanced monitoring capabilities and longer retention periods (15 months) compared to Standard mode (7 days), which might be relevant when considering data collection and analysis needs.
