AWS End User Messaging Voice call

0

Hi, I want to make an automated voice call from AWS to a phone number in the Netherlands. I see that in AWS End User Messaging the voice call is not enabled for the Netherlands. However, can I create a long phone number for Germany and make the call from the German origination phone number to the Netherlands? It would be therefore a call from Germany +49... to +31...

Or are there other possibilities to make an automated voice-to-speech phone call within the AWS infrastructure to call a Netherlands phone number?

Thanks!

While it's true that AWS End User Messaging doesn't offer local phone numbers (long codes) specifically for the Netherlands, you can still make automated voice calls to Dutch phone numbers using the service. Here's what you need to know:

  1. You can indeed use a phone number from another supported country, such as Germany, to make voice calls to the Netherlands. This means you could obtain a German long code (+49) through AWS End User Messaging and use it to call Dutch phone numbers (+31).

  2. It's important to note that the pricing for voice calls varies between countries and sometimes between carriers within the same country. So, the cost of calling from a German number to a Dutch number may differ from calling within Germany or from a Dutch local number.

  3. When setting up your voice call, you'll need to select the appropriate country code for the Netherlands (+31) as the destination, regardless of which country your origination number is from.

  4. Keep in mind that while this approach is technically possible, it may have implications for how your calls are perceived by recipients. Calls from a German number to Dutch recipients might be unexpected and could potentially be flagged as suspicious by some users.

  5. As an alternative, you could explore using other AWS services that integrate with telephony services, such as Amazon Connect, which might offer more flexibility for international calling scenarios.

  6. Remember that when you're starting out, your account will be in the Voice sandbox environment. This means you'll have certain restrictions, such as daily message limits and maximum calls per minute. To move to production status and remove these limitations, you'll need to send at least one voice message and then submit a support request detailing your use case.

Before implementing any solution, it's advisable to review the specific requirements and regulations for automated calling in both the originating country (Germany in this case) and the destination country (the Netherlands) to ensure compliance with local laws and best practices.
