Application LB Health Check CLI

0

The below command is not working in the CLI...no error..it keeps thinking...no output at all. I had to ctrl c to kill it. Why?

aws elbv2 describe-target-health --target-group-arn arn:aws:xxxxxxx
  • One of the first things you can do when the AWS CLI produces results that you don't expect, is get more detail by running the command again and including the --debug option at the end of the command line. This causes the AWS CLI to report details about every step it takes to process your command, send the request to the AWS servers, receive the response, and process the response into the output you see.

  • thanks. I know the issue now. I always remember debug & dry-run but I don't use the CLI frequently.

Hello -

I understand you were having trouble with the CLI command for application health check.

I found this article that reviews CLI commands for the describe-target-health in more detail. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/cli/latest/reference/elbv2/describe-target-health.html

Try updating your AWS CLI. Check out this link on how to install or update the AWS CLI: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/cli/latest/userguide/getting-started-install.html

Also, you can run the CLI command again and add --debug option at the end of the command line. When the AWS CLI reports an error that you don't immediately understand, or produces results that you don't expect, you can get more detail about the error by running the command again with the --debug option. With this option, the AWS CLI outputs details about every step it takes to process your command. The details in the output can help you to determine when the error occurs and provides clues about where it started. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/cli/latest/userguide/cli-chap-troubleshooting.html

I hope that helps you with the CLI commands needed for your application health check.
