Is deployment mandatory for Grreengrass V2 to work on GGC device?

I am interested in understanding if GGC device once provisioned in field with Greengrass V2 can be updated/deployed offline withouth really needing to connect to AWS Greengrass Service in cloud.  
Background:  
Greengrass V2 has only Nucleus component to be mandatory, which can be installed manually.  
And Greengrass V2 provides a local deployment way for all other components deployment.  
Reference:     
In addition and as a difference to Greengrass V1, all configurations, subscription settings in V2 are part of the component deployment itself in form of receipes,  
  
So, is Greengrass Deployment from AWS Greengrass cloud service mandatory in Greengrass V2?

Hello Akhilesh,  
Thank you for trying out Greengrass V2. It is entirely possibly to use Greengrass V2 without ever connecting to the Greengrass cloud service by just using the local Greengrass V2 CLI. The easiest way is to install the CLI by using a cloud deployment, however it is feasible to add it without that, just not as easily.
